Promise Zone

The Evansville Promise Zone is one of only 22 designations in the U.S. awarded in June of 2016 with ECHO Housing designated as the lead organization of the Promise Zone. Promise Zones are high-poverty communities where the federal government partners with local leaders to make substantial change within the designated area. The purpose of the Promise Zone is to:

• Increase access to job skills, education, and training for better career opportunities
• Support new business establishments within a dynamic economic environment
• Improve the academic, social, and emotional well-being of our youth and families
• Reduce criminal activity
• Promote overall health and well-being
• Expand the number of quality, affordable housing units
