The H.O.N.O.R. Program at Gresham

For more than a decade, ECHO Housing & Community Development has proudly served Veterans throughout Southwest Indiana by helping them overcome barriers to employment, housing, and long-term stability. Since launching Veteran-focused programming in 2012, ECHO has assisted more than 1,300 Veterans experiencing homelessness across nine counties through housing, employment, and supportive services.

In 2026, ECHO evolved its Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program (HVRP) into the H.O.N.O.R. (Helping Others Navigate Opportunity and Recovery) Program – a Resource and Employment Navigation Program that reflects the changing needs of our community.

While employment remains a cornerstone of the program, HONOR recognizes that lasting stability often requires more than a job. Veterans may also face barriers related to housing, transportation, healthcare, benefits, childcare, finances, or other basic needs. Rather than beginning with an eligibility checklist, HONOR begins by asking, “How can we help?”

The program prioritizes Veterans while also serving their families, military caregivers, National Guard and Reserve members, and other community members who can benefit from individualized resource navigation and supportive services. By meeting people where they are, HONOR helps individuals build a foundation for long-term success before challenges become crises.

• Occupational, classroom, and on-the-job training opportunities
• Career advancement planning
• Housing navigation and stabilization
• Transportation assistance
• Benefits enrollment and resource navigation
• Clothing, childcare, and other supportive assistance
• Case management and individualized service planning
• Connections to community partners and supportive services

Through a strong network of employers, government agencies, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and community organizations, HONOR works collaboratively to ensure Veterans and their families have access to the resources they need to achieve meaningful employment, stable housing, and long-term independence.

In partnership with the American Red Cross, the HONOR Program also coordinates the Totes for Hope initiative, providing Veterans with hygiene supplies and other essential items while creating meaningful opportunities to connect individuals with ongoing services and support.

Gresham House Veteran Resource Center

The HONOR Program is headquartered at the James Bethel Gresham Memorial House, ECHO’s Veteran Resource Center in Evansville. The facility serves as a welcoming place where Veterans and their families can connect with employment services, resource navigation, supportive programming, and community partnerships designed to help them achieve their goals.
