Welcome to ECHO Housing & Community Development
Providing opportunity through housing for our community since 1991
At ECHO Housing & Community Development, we believe that improving lives starts with reducing barriers—barriers to housing, social well-being, and economic opportunity.
Everyone deserves a safe, stable place to call home. Guided by that belief, ECHO works with compassion, advocacy, and innovation to help individuals and families overcome obstacles that stand in the way of housing and stability.
Through eight housing-centric programs, we provide a continuum of care that addresses the diverse needs of people experiencing homelessness or housing instability. From emergency shelter, permanent supportive housing, rapid rehousing and prevention to affordable rental homes, each program plays a vital role in creating a stronger, more resilient community.
Located in Vanderburgh County – Evansville, Indiana, ECHO extends its services throughout southwest Indiana. In addition to our federally funded programs, we operate as a Community Development Corporation (CDC) by revitalizing neighborhoods. We collaborate with a wide network of community partners to advance our mission, vision, and core values—promoting housing equity, fostering economic mobility, and strengthening communities from the ground up.
Together, we’re building more than housing. We’re building opportunity, stability, and hope.
Welcome to ECHO Housing & Community Development
Providing opportunity through housing for our community since 1991
Guided by our belief that every man, woman, and child deserves a place to call home, ECHO works with compassion and advocacy to make that belief a reality. ECHO has eight federally funded housing-centric programs which all serve a unique and important role in our community.
In addition to our federally funded service programs, ECHO is a CDC affordable housing developer and partners with numerous agencies in our community to ensure our Mission, Vision, and Core Values are maintained through collaboration.

What they are saying about us…
I spent years being homeless, on the streets, in shelters and living in parks. I couldn’t believe it when I was informed that I would be moving into my own apartment. I pray every night, thanking ECHO Housing staff for the opportunity they have given me. I am truly blessed.
Bruce
I ended up on the streets with nowhere to go and was becoming hopeless. As a Veteran, I knew there was help somewhere. Finally, Echo Housing became a part of my life and helped me get my own place and things for my home. My whole life was changed. It has been a blessing.
Paul
I was homeless, living on the streets for 8 years when ECHO Housing found me. I now have a home of my own.
Anthony
I am disabled and in a wheelchair. I had made some bad choices that left me homeless on the streets. If it wasn’t for ECHO Housing, I am not sure I would have made it.
Roger
I spent 31 years in prison. When I was released, I had nowhere to go and I felt like no one wanted to give me a chance. ECHO Housing helped me transition back into society.

“Being given this golden opportunity—a chance at permanent housing and a program that truly uplifts lives—has been a major blessing. The selfless, non-judgmental support from ECHO Housing staff restored my hope and guided me toward a better path. I may not call myself a success yet, but I’ve improved in so many ways, and for that, I will always be grateful.”

This Earth Day, let’s remember: 🌍
Environmental justice is housing justice.

This isn’t just about the planet—it’s about the people who live on it.

🚀 Big News from ECHO Housing & Community Development 🚀
Over the past year, we’ve been hard at work behind the scenes—listening, learning, connecting, and aligning with the people and partners who make change happen in our community.
We are thrilled to introduce the Social Ecosystem Mapping Tool (in partnership with Visible Network Labs). This powerful, interactive, living tool helps us visualize how organizations and institutions across Evansville are connected—and how we can work smarter, together.
📊 Why it Matters:
This tool gives Evansville something we've never had before:
✅ A shared platform to see where partnerships already exist and where they’re needed as well as the trust and value of organizations through partner evaluations
✅ Real-time insights into gaps, overlaps, and opportunities for collaboration
✅ The ability for organizations to showcase their impact, strengthen grant applications, and direct inquiries more effectively
✅ Funders and policymakers can identify who’s doing what, where, and how to best invest in meaningful progress
✅ New leaders and organizations can navigate our social landscape with clarity and connection
💥 This is how we move from isolated impact to unified progress.
In addition to the live data dashboard, we provide semi-annual aggregate and highlight reports, providing snapshots of the network over time.
The interactive, real-time dashboards along with snapshot aggregate and highlight reports can be accessed through our website at: echohousing.org/housing/community-development/
🌐 If you’re an organization serving Evansville and want to be part of this growing network, it’s time to get mapped. Your voice matters. Your work matters. And together, we can do more.
Our work doesn’t stop here! We will continue to identify partners, invite them to participate, identify resource gaps & redundancies, and work to align efforts in the community as we work alongside our incredible partners!
➡️ Stay tuned for more info about how to participate, next steps as we expand the network and incorporate resident voices into assessing systems—or message us today to get started.
This is just the beginning. Let’s build something powerful, together.
